Good Evans, it's now 3 - Incredible eighth medal for Legrand

Adelaide University's Wesley Legrand was the toast of Adelaide University last night when he won an amazing SAAFL-record eighth medal, in Div 7R. It was his fourth F.J. Monten Medal in Div. 7R, and his third successive win, adding to his great recognition as a genuine best and fairest medallist from 2004 from Div. 6R to Div. 8R. Legrand, 31, has now won three more medals than any other player in the history of the SAAFL, since 1911. It also took Adelaide University's tally to an equally-ama...read more

The almighty power of the casting vote

There comes a time in every person's life when he or she qualifies by age to become an eligible voter. Someone charged with the responsibility to put forward their idea of who is best fit to run the country. If it had a job description then it may well contain under 'essential requirements': the ability to set direction, engender cooperation, change direction and deny having first set any direction. That is because the greatest consequence to the person and the party best fit to convince us...read more

Interesting opening to finals series

Elimination final: Sacred Heart v Broadview at Sacred Heart SC Broadview gained its berth at the last minute with a compelling win over Gepps Cross and Gaza's final round defeat. However, the Tigers' victory last weekend suggests they can be a danger to whoever they meet in coming weeks. Coach Scott Leal is certainly not settled with just making it and hopes his side can improve further to be a realistic challenger. "It's obviously a good effort, but it was our aim to play finals and as I ...read more

Suddenly, no one is so sure anymore

West Croydon could have been excused for sitting back and being pleased about the incredible demise of its nearest rival Lockleys in last week's Div. 6 qualifying final. The Demons were completely outclassed by a far-more efficient and hungry Trinity OS to win by 80 points. If the win wasn't a shock, the incredible margin certainly was. Some might think West Croydon only needs to now turn up to collect the premiership pennant, but coach Matt McPherson is a smart man and knows too well that n...read more
