Club history

A Rosewater club was competing during the First World War and in the 1920s in the Port Adelaide District Association. The present club, however, was founded in 1946 and joined the SAAFL in 1949 after finishing premier of the Port Adelaide Association in 1948, rising to A1 after only 5 seasons and playing off in the Grand Final. It was A1 premier in 1957 and spent most of the '60s and '70s in that grade. Feared on the field, it also had the most feared supporter in Mrs. Christensen who brandished a vicious brolly at opposing teams' players. In one game her son-in-law played for the opposition and shirt-fronted Clarrie Christensen near the boundary. She wacked her son-in-law with the brolly because Clarrie was her son!

Rosewater's captain John Staker was named All-Australian captain in 1976, one of only 6 South Australians to be so honoured. In 1978 the Club extended its premises with a new kitchen, umpires' room, first aid room and extensions to the bar. The 1980s saw the Club primarily in A2, bit is slipped further down the grades in the '90s and later to Division 5, halting the slide in 2003. With 5 medals, Kevin Jacquier shares the SAAFL record with Kings Old Collegian Peter Adcock. He was also the Club's best & fairest in 4 seasons & runner-up in 6. Along the way he kicked 535 goals. Kevin Thomas holds the Club record for matches played with 373 games between 1964 and 1987.

2011, Rnd 02, D5: Salisbury West v Rosewater | Tiger |

It was Salisbury west first home game of the year and started out favorites, as they had a good first win against Adelaide Lutheran in round 1. Their opposition was a rosewater outfit that had a considerable loss the week before against an up and coming west croydon side.
