Club history
Formed in 1906, the Henley club rivalled Wattle Park Teachers College in the number of name changes over the years. Beginning as Henley Beach, it merged with Grange on two occasions to form Henley & Grange, and in between was known simply as Henley. During the war years a club called Henley United played social matches and in 1946 Henley Rovers was formed. The two combined in 1947 to become Henley Beach. Its inclination for mergers surfaced again in 1978 when it combined with Henley High O.S. to form Henley District & O.S., then it was announced in December 1993 that this group, which had won consecutive Division 1 premierships in the S.A.F.A., would combine with Greek to form Henley Greek competing in the SAAFL. As well as organising mergers, the Club constructed new change-rooms at Henley Memorial Oval in 1963 and extended these in 1977.
In 1998 it reversed the merger trend by dropping Greek and reverting to simply Henley. Following a drop to Division 2 in 2001, it bounced back in 2004 with its best all-round performance - 4 premierships for its 4 senior teams and promotion back to Division 1.
The Club record holder for games played is Dave Ardill with 430 games.

What an excellent game of football.
It was a big day for both sides. SHOC A1 had never beaten Henley on their home ground and this was a special day for Henley, being their heritage game and hence they were wearing their special colours. There was a very large crowd at the game, probably in the order of 2,000 people. Expectations were high from both sides. A win for Henley would exact reve

It was a hard slog on a pretty boggy ground for three quarters, but the younger Trinity side managed to out run an under manned Henley outfit. Unfortunately due to injuries and late withdrawals Henley only turned up with 16 players, which was always going to make the task tough. 3 goals to 2 at half time in a pretty scrappy game which never reached many heights.
