The Hectorville Football Club began in 1961 in the East Torrens Association and in 1964 combined with the Magill United Cricket Club to form the Hectorville Sporting Club. It won its first 'A' premiership in 1967. When East Torrens became Norwood North, Hectorville were the inaugural premiers, and won the senior premiership again in 1974. Norwood North became S.A.F.A. in 1978 and in 1982 the Club's name was changed to Norwood Districts, but reverted to Hectorville again the year after it joined the SAAFL. The Club won the inaugural premiership of the competition for people with integration difficulties set up by the SAAFL in 1992.
