Club history

In 1987 Renown Park, St. Dominics and St. Peters Y.C.W. football clubs amalgamated to form the Fitzroy Football Club, playing in the uniform of the then V.F.L. club of the same name. At the time of the amalgamation, St. Dominics had slipped from an A1 club to A3, and Renown Park and St. Peters were both languishing in A6. At the end of the 1996 season the club was in financial crisis due to overinvestment in poker machines and went into liquidation, but a new board of management restructured its finances, and the Club continued to field three senior teams and juniors. The record holder for games played is Sid OLeary.

The second half of the season started with Fitzroy heading across town to Kingswood Oval to do battle with the Unley Jets, whose form since their first round win at the Den had been somewhat inconsistent.   This clash was vital for both sides; a win for the Jets to keep them in touch with the top 5 and equal on points with Fitzroy.

A triple header, the opening games were both won

2010, Rnd 06, D4: Pooraka v Fitzroy | scratch and sniff |

Lindblom Park, home of the bionic vagabond Steven Coles, was the venue for a father son picnic as the wise lions took on the youthful bulls. Pooraka as usual conceded the first scores; testing the elasticity of their opponents before selecting gear and slinging themselves into the lead. Fitzroy’s midfield were obstacles at best as the bulls made the would be tacklers look like hills hoists i
